Stuff to mention/include
Aspects of literacy development (alphabet, phonics, decoding/comprehension, vocabulary/background knowledge, fluency, maybe other stuff)
Different manga magazines and their age demographics → different levels of furigana inclusion (from frequent to fewer to minimal to none)
Tadoku (多読, or ‘many reading’) and the Japan Foundation (JPF) Library
Japan Foundation (in Ultimo, opposite UTS) hosts live Tadoku evenings on fortnightly Thursdays https://sydney.jpf.go.jp/library/tadoku-reading-nights/. There are also links to graded readers on the library catalogue, as well as links to other websites where tadoku books can be read from home.

Youtube playlist (113 videos) of tadoku readaloud books https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDh7EBif7hI&list=PLECwrojQZ1wctD5oeb1AlLwxZckBmOEiY, uploaded by NPO多言語多読 (’NPO multilingual extensive reading’), the same organisation that created the Tadoku.org website

Free online Tadoku eBooks can be found on https://tadoku.org/japanese/en/free-books-en/. Each eBook seems to be published under a creative commons licence (great for educators), and their respective PDFs can be downloaded too. Some titles have features such as voiceovers and videos available too.
